If you’re a long-time League of Legends grinder, you should have stacks on stacks of Blue Essence just gathering dust in your account. Earned from leveling up your account or disenchanting champions, Blue Essence is a free currency that has virtually no use once you’ve unlocked all 168 unique champions on the MOBA’s growing roster.

That’s why Riot Games created the Essence Emporium in 2018, a one-stop shop destination for all things Blue Essence, so players can offload their shiny blue crystals in exchange for colorful chromas, player icons, wards, and even the iconic Urfwick skin!

Unlike the rolling, personalized Your Shop, the Essence Emporium is only available twice a year, so you’ll need to save the dates for this year’s iterations. Keep reading to find out more.

LoL Essence Emporium: 2024 Dates

The Essence Emporium in League of Legends opens for business twice a year - typically once in the summer and then again in winter to close the year in the preseason.

It was confirmed in the official 14.11 patch notes that the Essence Emporium would return for its mid-season shop on May 30 and close again on June 19, 2024. This should give you plenty of time to grind for some last-minute Blue Essence and make your purchases. Riot Games also offers a 50% XP boost while the Essence Emporium is open, so you can earn even more Blue Essence to spend.

If you miss the shop this time around, though, don’t worry! As mentioned, the Essence Emporium will likely open again towards the end of the year, likely in December, for another Blue Essence sale.

LoL Essence Emporium FAQs

How often does Blue Essence Emporium come out?

The Blue Essence Emporium shop comes out twice a year, usually once in May/June and again in December before the next season begins.

How much do chromas cost in the Essence Emporium?

The Essence Emporium offers two different types of chromas: the Emerald chromas, which cost 10,000 Blue Essence, and the regular chromas for certain skin lines, which cost 2,000 Blue Essence.

Why are some chromas 10,000 Blue Essence?

The chromas that cost 10K Blue Essence are the Emerald chromas, which are special editions not sold in the regular shop. The only way to get Emerald chromas is via the Essence Emporium, hence their premium price tag.

How to get Blue Essence in League?

You can earn Blue Essence in multiple ways: through Event Passes, Event Missions, Daily Missions (like getting your first win of the day), Honor rewards, Hextech Crafting, and leveling up your account by playing the game.
