After an exciting MSI, the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) is ramping up for another thrilling chapter with the start of the Summer Split on June 8, 2024. Prepare for seven weeks of top-tier, heart-pounding LoL action, all culminating in an epic Grand Final on July 28, 2024.

This summer promises to be legendary, packed with fan-favorite icons, daring underdogs, and unexpected twists. Ten elite EMEA teams will clash, vying for gold and glory, a share of the €80,000 prize pool and a coveted slot at LoL Worlds.

Here's everything you need to know about the LEC Summer Split, including the competition format, all ten competing squads, the current standings, and more!

LEC 2024 Summer: Format

Like previous years, the LEC plays through three different splits over the year, including the Winter Split in January, which was won by G2 Esports, Spring Split, and Summer Split.

For 2024, the LEC Summer Split is split into two phases: the Regular Season and the Bracket Stage/Playoffs. Unlike other professional regional leagues such as the LCK, LPL, CBLOL, and LCS, the LEC does not feature a Group Stage.

Regular Season: June 8 - 30

  • Played as a single-round robin format
  • Each team played nine matches, one match for each team
  • All matches are played best-of-one (Bo1)
  • The top eight teams advance to the Playoffs; the remaining two teams are eliminated

Playoffs: July 12 - 30

  • After a short week-long mid-season break, the top eight from the Regular Season will compete in a double-elimination bracket
  • Round 1 and Round 2 matches are played Bo3
  • All other matches are Bo5, including the Quarterfinals and Semifinals
  • The winner qualifies for LoL Worlds 2024
  • The top three also secure a spot at the LEC Finals, aka EMEA Masters

The Mid-Season Invitational in May showed the world that European squads can go toe-to-toe with the giants, with G2 Esports triumphing over LPL's second seed, Top Esports, in a clean 3-0 sweep.
